Reflection
In the first semester of my learning as a design student, I was introduced a wide range of representational techniques as well as general understandings towards the concepts of design. As a beginner, I have gone through different representational skillsets from hand-sketched orthographic projection, to digital modelling and fabrication through axonometric projection and perspectives. This semester has equipped me with fundamental principles of how to engage my audience and introduce my design ideas in a perceptive way, which are essentials skills throughout the entire three years of learning as an architectural student. I’m pleased to have gone through a fruitful and helpful three months through my learning of Foundation of Design: Representation.
From my perspective, the best design of the semester is from module 4, whose quality has received recognitions from the subject leader Scott Woods and my studio tutors during the presentation. Designs from other modules, however, have also maintained high standards, which is something I should keep up with. I’m also very grateful to have become a student of Mitchell Ransome, my studio tutor, who has provided me with sufficient help and advice. In the next semester, I will continue making progress on my working efficiency and design representational skillsets, as well as developing more engaging design ideas.
