
Iteration 1
In the first iteration, my key consideration is to create spaces and structures that encourages small scale social gathering around. I wanted to define the output geometry as the center and activate the area around it, by creating thresholds and micro-infrastructure that intrigue people to engage. In the end, I decided on using twisting geometry as the main architectural element, and the end result is a vine-like canopied structure with expanding arms on the ground.
The Script

The main process of matrix 1 is to generate a 3 x 3 x 3 grids and assign geometries to place. After that, the controlling process consists of using point attractor to alter the scale and angle of rotation. In matrix 1, I started off exploring the qualities of different geometric inputs. My decision is on slender box geometry as I hope to exert better control of the additive process.

Compared to subtractive process, additive is easier to manage for optimal outcomes. I attempted the manipulation of twisting of the input geometry initially for variety and complexity. But the experiment informed me of the smoothness and extending nature that twisting box geometry contains, which may work well with my goal of creating structures and spaces that intrigue people and encourage social activities.

Key Iterations

Key Iteration 1
In my first key iteration I sought to create spaces that encourage social connections and the outcomes realizes that by providing canopies and u-shape structures on the ground, which defines concentric and static property of this particular space, as people tend to gather within.

Key Iteration 2
The second key iteration for matrix 1 incorporates the twisted smooth surfaces of the structurem. The vine-like canopy allows sunlight into the L-shape area but avoids it at the longtitude end, creating privacy right next to the communal area.

Final Iteration
The Matrix outcome is a structure that combines the characteristics of the previous key iteration. By providing vine like canopy it creates soft threholds for transition. The two U shapes ground structures on both sides encourages communal activity, while a private space is separated at the longitude end of the structure, well shaded. The twisting structure on ground provides angular and height difference between platform, which can be also utilized for interactive activities, between human and architecture
